Suffering from a severe image crisis, Vauxhall produce good, reliable cars but face similar problems as Ford - they need to produce truly excellent products to get back to the top of the sales charts.

The Vauxhall VX220 is based on the Lotus Elise but betters it in certain areas. The Vauxhall engines are stronger than the Rover engined Elise however the Elise is now equipped with the high revving Toyota VVT engine.

Huge amounts of fun but not the most practical car in the Vauxhall range the VX220 was created to improve the image of Vauxhall. They have also bolstered their image with the brave move to sell the Australian Holden based Monaro in the UK. Both cars are great value and good in their own right but without the broad market appeal that a high volume manufacturer like Vauxhall needs.
